Paul/Andy, A bit of a long overdue thanks to you both. I ordered a custom Alpine frame from you back in June 2008 after dropping in for a fitting en-route to Scotland from Bristol. Given that I'm 5'10" but with a 34" inside leg, I've always had a daft drop from saddle to bars on frames I was told were my size. It's been a total revelation having a bike that fits perfectly and eats up the miles without any issues. It didn't get a huge amount of use in the first couple of years for various reasons but it's now been truly tested doing: - Mont Ventoux (stripped down without..
The bike that arrived blew all our expectations out of the water. The finish to the frame was Paul’s personal trade mark. Triathlete 1998 ..
Good Afternoon Paul, I would like to say massive thank you for the bike fitting you conducted for me on Friday 21 Sep 12. My bike fells like a total different machine now. I have massively improved comfort, performance and as a result endurance. Thank you for all your help. If you would like me to write a more substantial piece for your website then please let me know. A happy cyclist!!! Kind Regards David Rees ..
When it came to buying a new bike, I had no hesitation in coming to Hewitt Cycles. Previous experience meant that I knew that I would have a bike that fitted and would be well and truly up to all the demands I would place on it. On coming down to Leyland, Paul and I discussed what sort of riding I would be doing and what my preferences were. I ride quite a few of the hillier sportives every year, interspersed with an annual trip to France and the occasional multi day event like the Raid Pyrenean. It was decided that ‘Columbus Life’ tubing offered the best compromise between ride characteris..
Paul Hewitt’s Cheviot has been described elsewhere as a ‘nigh on perfect’ all-round touring bike. So the new ‘SE’ version (Super Enhanced?) has to be worth a look. 2004 – Cheviot SE Review ..
Hi Just to let you know how great my Hewitts bike is!! I rode from Lands End and Lizard Point, to John O'Groats and Dunnet Head.  I took my camping kit and camped all the way (except for one night of luxury at Penrith where we stayed in a B&B!) I didnt get one puncture, the bike rode really well (even on the cycle tracks alongside the A9), and the fit must be great as I didnt get any niggly pains or injuries (although I fell off on my wrist - that was my fault, not the bike!!). Also I have raised £585 for charity so far which is fab. https://mydonate.b..
Hi Paul & Team, Just contacting you to say a big thank you for the wheels you built for me last week (Open Pro, Campag hubs). Couldn't be happier with the quality of the build (as always) and with the really quick turn around on getting the wheels to me. I really hadn't expected them to be back within a week of sending you over the parts. Always a real pleasure to deal with your company and to be riding around on another set of trouble free and reliably built wheels. Thanks very much indeed for the exemplary service. I just wish your bike shop was closer so I ..
The Hewitt Cheviot SE was my bike of choice for several Sustrans rides. where it was equally at home carving descents in the Pennines as it was cruising down unpaved bicycle paths. 2007 – Cycling Plus Awards – Cheviot SE & Aravis SL ..
Hi Paul, Just wanted to say how pleased I am with the Reynolds 953 stainless steel made to measure frame you supplied recently, from the outset the service I received was exemplary. Although I have some experience and thought I had my position about right, you were able, with judicious use of your measuring jig together with infinite patience, to bring about a slight `tweaking`of the said position for the better. Special mention should go to your resident frame builder Andy at this stage, he was able to take your measurements and produce a drawing of draughtsman standa..
Hi Paul, Just to tell you that Catford Hill went well with the Eno/Mavic Argent 7 wheel you built for me a couple of weeks ago. I was slightly over-geared with 56.7GI fixed, but a decent result for first attempt - 39th overall in 2.29 and 6th vet. Now that I know the hill I can do better next year. Results:http://www.catfordcc.co.uk/hillclimb/results.aspx?sm=16_6 It was the first time I used your wheel and it went perfectly. Thanks again Olivier   ..
